This story began with a simple goal: to take better care of my car.

I began by paying more attention to my own vehicle. I started washing it more often, each time with greater intent. I began learning about different products and techniques, and as I went along something unexpected happened...

I fell in love with the process.

What began as routine maintenance became something special, something deeper. A chance to slow down, focus, and take pride in doing something properly. I felt deep satisfaction stepping back after a wash, seeing the paint shine, the tyres dressed, and the cabin fresh and clean.

As my interest grew, I began testing different techniques, products, and brands. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and there are alot of great products out there.

I realised that detailing was an art. And like a true art form there are levels to it. There are some very complex processes which require great skill and experience, and there are also many simpler processes that can be learned easily and and practiced personally at home. Also, higher prices don't necessarily mean better results.

For me, excellent results come from quality products, quality education, and quality effort. It's really about what we put into it.

That's when the idea for Lumino was born.

I partnered with homegrown South African manufacturers and suppliers to the local auto detailing industry and built the Lumino brand.

A brand built around simplicity, quality, and value. A brand that shares industry knowledge. A brand that makes proper car care accessible, approachable, and enjoyable. A proudly South African brand.

During development we tested each of our products against many competitor products, and we're proud to say that our products stand their ground firmly and are more than competitive, in performance, value, and price.

Today, Lumino exists to help others experience the same pride and satisfaction that comes from caring for their own vehicles. And to bring industry knowledge and wisdom to others through our blog.

Caring for your car isn't just about achieving a great finish.

It's about discovery, learning, sharing, enjoying the process, taking pride in ownership, and appreciating our effort and the things we choose to look after.
